How Important is Driver Education?
Take any 16 year old driver and they are 20 times more likely to have a motor vehicle crash than any other licensed driver. Consider some of the facts:

Requirements for Obtaining a Driver License Under Age 18
The state of Ohio requires students under the age of eighteen years to obtain a Driver Education Certificate prior to getting their license. The driver education course consists of twenty-four hours of classroom instruction and eight hours behind the wheel. Students must be a minimum age of fifteen years and five months to begin class. Students are not required to have their permit before begining class, but must obtain it before their drive time will be scheduled. Students must have their permit for a minimum of six months before testing for their license. During this six months, they also need fifty hours of driving with their parent, ten of which are required to be night driving.
Completion Time &Fee
Students are required to complete the entire course within six months from the date they begin class. A minimum payment of one half is required at registration on the first day of class. Payment plans can be arranged so the balance is paid in full bythe time the student completes the entire program. The certificate of completion will not be issued until balance is paid in full. Total fee is $325.00
Behind the Wheel Instruction
All students are required to complete classroom sessions prior to scheduling their drive time. The student must have their permit when they call to schedule the eight hours of driving time. The driving is scheduled on four different days with each session lasting two hours . Driving instruction is held Saturdays, after school and anytime during the summer. Instructors like to meet with the parent after each session to discuss the student's progress. State law requires students to have their permit with them while driving. If they come without it, they will not be permitted to drive and will be charged a twenty-five dollar rescheduling fee. This fee also applies if the student fails to come for a drive or cancels a scheduled drive without a twenty-four hour notice to our office. All driving instruction is done with only one student in the car at a time.
Adult Lessons
AmeriDrive by Stark Driving School offers adult driving lessons. Adults may choose a refresher lesson or beginners lesson, if they have never been behind the wheel. Each adult driving lesson is scheduled for one hour of behind the wheel instruction. The fee for each adult lesson is fifty dollars per hour, which must be paid in advance. There is an additional ten dollar pick up fee within a ten mile radius of the school. Classroom instruction is optional for adults with the same fee and class hours as teens to recieve a certificate. Each adult student is evaluated individualy in the car to determine the number of lessons required to pass the driving exam and become a safe, defensive and knowledgeable licensed driver.
Adult Remedial Course
The adult remedial class is for adults that have a license suspension. It is also for adults for a point reduction on their license. In wintersville held first weekend of every month: Friday 5:15 to 9:30 plus Saturday 8:00am to 12:15. All students must attend both sessions.
It is offered the third Saturday of the month in St. Clairsville. It is an eight hour class. It begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:45 p.m. Cash is the only acceptable form of payment.
Juvenile Remedial Course
The Juvenile Driver Improvement Class is offered the third Saturday of every month in Wintersville, and the first Saturday of every month in St. Clairsville. It begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m.
